Born in 1985 in Antwerp, Mathieu Mortelmans grew up in a bilingual family. He moved to Brussels in 2006 (to start his cinema studies at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion) and has lived there ever since.
Since many years he works as a director for french and dutch projects aswell. His two first french speaking shortfilms « Chambre Double » and « Complices » won many international awards and he already directed more than 40 episodes for dutch series.
In 2017 he finished up a new short film called « Les Naufragés » co-directed with his wife Cécile Delberghe. At the Brussels Internationnal Fantastic Film Fest (BIFFF) « Les Naufragés » won both BeTV and RTBF best shortfilm prices.Then he revealed to public in 2018 « Bastaard » his first feature movie at the Namur Festival International du Film Francophe (FIFF).
